The 2010 Chevrolet Avalanche sits on standard 17-inch wheels with available massive, 22-inch chrome wheels and features power running boards on LTZ models. Inside, the Avalanche offers dual-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable pedals, remote vehicle start and a heavy-duty rear-locking differential. Additional convenience and luxury features include a rear-seat DVD entertainment system, touch-screen navigation and titanium or cashmere interiors (select models only).
The Chevy Avalanche debuted in 2002 and has been a steady success ever since. The Avalanche's plastic body cladding and integrated bed have been two of the most prominent reason why this model has been such a magnet for attention. Chevy's goal for the Avalanche was to design a vehicle that is seen as both versatile and unique. Originally constructed off of the GMT800 platform along with the Chevy Silverado, GMC Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade, the Avalanche boasts full-sized truck features along with SUV convenience. For its first generation, the Chevy Avalanche had gray body cladding and came with one of two engine options: a 5.3L Vortec V8 (290 horsepower) or an 8.1L Vortec V8 (340 horsepower). The transmission was a 4-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive was offered with 4-wheel drive as an option. Results were impressive right from the start. Motor Trend magazine named the Chevy Avalanche as its SUV of the Year for 2002 and the model was also nominated for the North American Truck of the Year award, as well. Chevy Avalanche Accessories.

New 2010 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500

New 2010 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 Overview. Based on the full-size Chevrolet Suburban SUV platform, the versatile 2010 Chevrolet Avalanche is essentially a full-size SUV with a truck bed, thereby combining the comfort and utility of an SUV with the cargo and towing capability of a pickup truck.

Nine years after its 2002 debut, the 2010 Chevrolet Avalanche is available in LS, LT and LTZ trim levels, two- and four-wheel-drive configurations, and is powered by a respectable 320-horsepower, 5.3-liter flex-fuel V-8 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The 6.0-liter V-8 has been discontinued for 2010. EPA estimated fuel economy ratings are 14 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway. With a maximum capacity of 8,100 pounds, the Avalanche can certainly tow like a full-size pickup.
Not many vehicles make the same kind of impression that the Avalanche does which is why this rig has enjoyed a nice warm stay among the most popular trucks in the country. There may be a lot of great aftermarket ideas for this rough-n-tumble sleekster, but Chevy Avalanche Grills are definitely at the top of the list. The defiant brand of style is only one-upped by the improved security that slaps away more debris than the factory original – yet another reason to go out and get one! CARiD.com has your

Safety. Standard Avalanche safety equipment includes antilock disc brakes, stability control, GM's OnStar emergency communications system and a full-length side curtain airbag system with a rollover sensor. In government crash tests, the Avalanche earned a top five-star rating in all front- and side-impact tests.
In previous years, the Avalanche's rearview camera couldn't be had without spending the money to add a navigation system, since the camera relied on the nav system's screen to display its images. For 2009, the camera has been redesigned in a way that makes it a stand-alone feature. Its display is now featured on the rearview mirror instead of the nav screen, and as a result, it may be added without also adding a navigation system.

Interior Design and Special Features. Inside, the second-generation Chevy Avalanche is significantly improved over its predecessor. Constructed of high-quality materials, the cabin features straightforward ergonomics and top-notch fit and finish. The more common front bucket seat arrangement seats five, but the Avalanche can accommodate up to six occupants when equipped with the split-bench front seat.
