Unbias Review of 2010 Avalanche.2.

Unbias review of 2010 Chevy Avalanche. Cylinder deactivation is marketed as an efficient method of saving fuel and I have to admit it's the only part of the vehicle I'm disapointed with. It's been my experiance that cylinder deactivation largly engages when the vehicle is coasting...yes, I said coasting! My question is how much fuel is the vehicle using when it's coasting anyway. The other surprise is when the vehicle comes to a complete stop like at a stop sign or red light for example the vehicle goes into V8 mode...yikes! Are you kidding me...make an effort guys, program the computer to disengage the additional 4 cylinders for fuel savings while the vehicle is stopped/idoling. I love the truck I really really do but come on.
So here is my advise, it rides nice, it feels solid, fit and finish is great, my family feels really safe, but if your going to market cylinder deactivation as a fuel savings devise then configure the darn thing to save as much fuel as is reasonably possible. Okay, i'll get off my soap box...at the end of the day I love the truck!!!!
Chevy Avalanche accessories In 2003, the Avalanche was restyled with body cladding now optional. A Chevy Avalanche without the body cladding is referred to as a WBH version of the vehicle, or "Without Body Hardware." The midgate is the removable partition between the bed and the cabin and can be folded down partly or removed completely for complete access to the truck bed. Removing the midgate also allows for the rear seats to be lowered. The Chevy Avalanche was redesigned come 2006 for the 2007 model year. Now built off of the GMT900 platform, the Avalanche kept much of the same styling cues as its platform mates such as the Suburban and Tahoe. Engine options vary between a 5.3L Vortec 5300 V8 or 6.0L VortecMax V8 with variable valve timing. Both engines are equipped with Active Fuel Management, which turns off half of the cylinders during subtle road conditions to conserve fuel.

Unbias Review of 2010 Avalanche.

2007-present Chevrolet Avalanche photographed ...Image via Wikipedia

2010 Chevrolet Avalanche.. After many months of research and test drives I finally purchased a vehicle. It's a 2010 Avalanche LS4wd with the 1AS package. It has a rear camera, back up audibles, buttons on steering wheel etc, etc. basically it's more than an LS but less than a LT.
Having owned the truck for a number of weeks now a number of things has surprised me. First of all I'm surprised at just how much I enjoy driving this vehicle. Sure it's comfortable but most vehicles in this price range are comfortable...it's more than that. I think it has something to do with how high the driver sits. This vehicle is shorter and more narrow than a silverado and yet it sits higher. It's a great seating position. To give you a sence of scale I sit as high in my Avalanche as people do on the city bus...yup, it's that high!. If you noticed I didn't give the Avalance full 5 stars for performance and you may be wondering about that. It has to do with cylinder deactivation.

Chevy Avalanche accessories The Chevy Avalanche debuted in 2002 and has been a steady success ever since. The Avalanche's plastic body cladding and integrated bed have been two of the most prominent reason why this model has been such a magnet for attention. Chevy's goal for the Avalanche was to design a vehicle that is seen as both versatile and unique. Originally constructed off of the GMT800 platform along with the Chevy Silverado, GMC Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade, the Avalanche boasts full-sized truck features along with SUV convenience. For its first generation, the Chevy Avalanche had gray body cladding and came with one of two engine options: a 5.3L Vortec V8 (290 horsepower) or an 8.1L Vortec V8 (340 horsepower). The transmission was a 4-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive was offered with 4-wheel drive as an option. Results were impressive right from the start. Motor Trend magazine named the Chevy Avalanche as its SUV of the Year for 2002 and the model was also nominated for the North American Truck of the Year award, as well.

2010 Chevrolet Avalanche.

2010 Chevrolet Avalanche. The 2010 Avalanche is a 4-door, up to 6-passenger full size pickup, available in 6 trims, ranging from the LS 2WD to the LTZ 4WD. Upon introduction, both trims are equipped with a standard 5.3-liter, V8, 320-horsepower, flexible fuel engine that achieves 15-mpg in the city and 21-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.
The Chevrolet Avalanche is one of the more versatile vehicles on the road today. It successfully blends the comfort and passenger capacity of an SUV with the cargo flexibility of a pickup truck. While these two main attributes are also associated with full-size crew cab pickups, the Avalanche goes one step further with its distinctive fold-down midgate.
